About
Michael has been with the School of Information Systems at QUT since 1990. He has formerly had professional appointments at The Australian Atomic Energy Commission, the National Library of Australia, and Edith Cowan University, as well as being an academic at the University of New South Wales.
His research interests are broadly in the field of information management and include information use, information policy, controlled vocabularies and library systems.
He has published widely, including recent books on information management and on document management systems, and has had extensive involvement with consultancy work and research grant development and implementation.

- Discipline formation in information management, particularly with respect to the history and development of scientific and technical information services (most recent publication).
- Library support for online education (most recent publication).
- Web 2.0 applications in cultural institutions.
